FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When should we book our birth session?
We recommend booking during pregnancy so we can discuss your expected due date, hospital and session details in advance.
How does on-call birth photography work?
Once your booking is confirmed, we’ll note your expected due date and stay in touch as it approaches. When labour begins, simply keep us updated so we can coordinate accordingly.
Will you be available when I go into labour?
We remain on-call around your expected due date and will coordinate with you when labour begins. Photography/Videography is subject to hospital access, medical procedures and the permissions provided by the hospital.
Can you guarantee access to the labour or delivery room?
Access cannot always be guaranteed. Each hospital has its own policies, and the medical team may restrict photography at any time. We’ll always follow the hospital’s rules and instructions.
Can you photograph/videograph the labour and birth?
Birth photography is subject to the mother’s consent and the hospital’s policies and permissions. We’ll always respect your privacy, comfort and the medical team’s instructions.
Can you photograph/videograph a C-section?
This depends entirely on the hospital’s policy and the medical team’s permission. Photography may be restricted or not permitted inside the operating theatre.
Will you photograph/videograph everything during labour?
No. The focus is on the emotional and meaningful moments surrounding the birth. Your privacy, dignity and the medical team’s work always come first.
What if the hospital doesn’t allow photography during labour or delivery?
We’ll respect the hospital’s policy and focus on the moments that are permitted — before and after birth, your first moments with your baby, family connections and other meaningful details.
Do we need permission for photography/videography?
Yes. Photography/Videography will only take place with the mother’s consent and in accordance with the hospital’s policies and permissions.
What is Fresh 48?
Fresh 48 is a lifestyle session focused on your baby’s first 12–48 hours, without photographing labour or the birth itself.
When should we contact you for Fresh 48?
Once you’re admitted for delivery or your baby has arrived, keep us updated. We’ll coordinate with you and plan the session around your baby’s arrival and hospital schedule.
Can my husband, partner, siblings and family be included?
Yes, where permitted by the hospital. We can document those first meetings and connections with your baby.
What if the baby arrives earlier or later than expected?
That’s completely normal. Births are unpredictable. We’ll work around the actual arrival and coordinate with you as much as possible.
What if you don’t get permission to photograph the birth?
If hospital restrictions prevent birth photography, we’ll focus on whatever coverage the hospital permits. The agreed booking and cancellation terms will apply.
Will you share our birth photographs online?
Your privacy matters. Photographs will not be used on our website, portfolio or social media without your permission.
When will we receive the photographs?
Your final edited photographs will be delivered through a private online gallery within 20 working days.
How do I choose photos for editing?
After the session, you will receive access to an online gallery where you can review all the images. Select your favorites, and I will help you with the final selection and recommend the best photos for editing based on your preferences and the style of the session.
